How to replace 2002 Nissan Frontier clutch?

December 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

I just bought a brand new clutch it comes with everything i need i just don’t know how to do it.
A: Replacing the clutch is a tedious job which requires dropping the engine while keeping the car stable, keeping track of the parts and many more… It is even more difficult with a larger vehicle. I would take it to a mechanic who has the proper tools and equipment for this. It is simple but consumes a lot of time, but at least since you bought the clutch, you will only be paying for the labor.

- The manner in which you asked the question shows that you have limited knowledge in this subject no offense, but it is a lot more complicated than the clown says it is. You need a serious set of tools. including jacks, lifts, torque wrentches and probably an air compressor. It’s best to let a professional repair, but it is not imposible, will just take time, don’t forget safety. If you really are up to it, get a nissan manual and follow all steps to the letter. Good luck don’t forget to get the flywheel resurfaced at a machine shop, and keep the engine supported.

- The first thing you need to do is put the truck on jacks and get it off the ground. Then you need to remove the drive shaft. You’ll then need to unbolt the transmission from the bell housing. Slowly lower the transmission out, pulling the stick shift out also. You’ll need to unbolt the old clutch plates and put the new one in as instructed. Don’t forget to put in a new throwout bearing.
Bolt it all back up in reverse order.
