I replaced distributer and haven’t been able to start it since. I get gas, spark, timing is good, battery is good. I checked all the fuses and wires? can anyone give me some ideas?
- Check and make sure your distributor isn’t 180 degrees off. If it is, the timing will appear to be accurate. Pull #1 spark plug out, and put your finger over the hole while a helper bumps the motor over. Or better yet, use a remote starter switch with the key off. Try to get it to stop just as the timing mark is about to line up, and your finger is getting pushed off of the hole. Then check your rotor position.
- If the problem started with new distributor, then you got the wires crossed and is NOT delivering the spark to the correct piston at the correct time.
Autozone.com has many repair manual ONLINE for FREE. They are basically Chilton manual (at least for my Civic).
Double check the spark plug wiring order.
P.S. Even with the wires crossed, the timing light will show “correct timing” on many small engines.
