Mazda Miata Colored Gauge Face Set Instructions

August 18th, 2010 · No Comments

We know how terrifying it is to even think about breaking into that sacred area of your car, the instrument cluster. What if I scratch the plastic or break a needle? I’m here to tell you, it’s not that hard to customize your dash. All you need is a little patience and a couple of hours. You’ll feel like a pro when your done and you’ll be able to show off your accomplishment to your friends. In preparation for the job you’ll need to have a clean, uncluttered workspace. Don’t try to do this in the car. Use your kitchen table if you have to. Place a clean towel on the work surface. Lay it out like an operating room. For tools, you’ll need a set of jeweler’s screwdrivers, a #2 Philips head screwdriver, a small thin flat bladed screwdriver, an X-Acto knife or new single edge razor blade and some paint to paint then needles. Start with a full tank of gas. It is also a good idea to make a pencil mark on the gauge faces to show exactly where the needles are positioned when the car is running and up to temperature.

90-97 Mazda Miata NA Flush Mount Headlight Kit Installation Guide

August 17th, 2010 · No Comments

Each factory headlight is bolted to the car by only (3) nuts. Once the (3) nuts are unscrewed the headlight will be able to be removed from where it is bolted. In order to completely remove the headlight from the car you will have to unplug the factory wiring harness from the back of the headlight. To accomplish this remove the 4 screws holding the black plastic surround while the headlight is up. Loosen the four bolts holding the headlight lid on the assembly. Once removed, you will be able to gain access to the headlight to unplug the socket and associated clips. Now you can remove the headlight from the car. Below I will walk you through this entire process.

89-93 Mazda Miata Dashboard Removal

August 17th, 2010 · No Comments

When I bought my ‘91 SE, the paint on the top of the dashboard was in terrible shape and I immediately determined that I would remove the dash in order to strip and refinish it.
After considerable research, I began to get the impression that this would be a painfully difficult endeavor and that I might be better off just living with the damaged finish.
However, having now completed the removal myself, I can say that it’s actually a very straightforward and relatively simple process that only took about four hours to complete with frequent breaks and picture taking included.

Mazda Miata Shorten Your Parking Brake Lever

August 17th, 2010 · No Comments

The NA is about as roomy as a Miata gets, but as we all know there are limits to how comfortable the car can be. In my case, the parking brake lever is a major source of discomfort – see Figure 1. I’m just of average height but I have fairly long legs, and the lever rubs against my thigh. It can really be irritating after a while, so I decided to shorten it. The procedure which follows was originally developed by Paul, but I altered it a bit. The pictures are of my ’91 Miata. It took about four to five hours, but I’m a slowpoke and I was taking pictures. Without pictures, I could have done it in half that time.
