I hear you ask why does it work fine when i first start the car up well that’s because when your car is cold it doesn’t use (more…)

How to adjust the clutch on a Volkswagen Golf GTI 1992 model?

December 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

Please could someone advise me. I have just got the car and the clutch is slipping. Help will really be appreciated!
A: I believe this car has a hydraulic clutch which is self adjusting. Need to replace the clutch disk, pressure plate and throwout bearing. You could replace just the disk but most of the time one of the other components will go out shortly. It costs less to replace all components now then having to do a second tear down later to replace the next broken part.

I just bought a brand new clutch it comes with everything i need i just don’t know how to do it.
A: Replacing the clutch is a tedious job which requires dropping the engine while keeping the car stable, keeping track of the parts and many more… It is even more difficult with a larger vehicle. I would take it to a mechanic who has the proper tools and equipment for this. It is simple but consumes a lot of time, but at least since you bought the clutch, you will only be paying for the labor.

Is my 91 Nissan Pathfinder V6’s engine fan always supposed to be on?

December 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

I am pretty new to the auto scene. The fan seems to be just drivebelt driven, not electric. Each time I rev up the car, you don’t even hear the engine, just a loud WOOOSSHH of the fan. Is it broken? Or is it just how the vehicle was engineered?

I’m trying to decide whether to buy a Ford Escort, 198,000 miles on it, for $800, and get the engine rebuilt. Would this be a reasonable decision, given the cost of rebuilding, or are there other high-mile factors I’m missing?
