How to replace 2002 Nissan Frontier clutch?

December 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

I just bought a brand new clutch it comes with everything i need i just don’t know how to do it.
A: Replacing the clutch is a tedious job which requires dropping the engine while keeping the car stable, keeping track of the parts and many more… It is even more difficult with a larger vehicle. I would take it to a mechanic who has the proper tools and equipment for this. It is simple but consumes a lot of time, but at least since you bought the clutch, you will only be paying for the labor.

Oxygen Sensor – Low Voltage?

December 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

I ran numerous Diagnostics tests with the OBD-II readers and replaced many oxygen sensors (Bosch and Delphi) with my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. But my check engine light has been on for the past month with the new oxygen sensor. The last test, I replaced the Bosch oxygen sensor with a Delphi. I made a quick run to Tuffy and asked to run a test for my truck. They did. After that, it read O2 Sensor – Bank 2 Sensor 2 – Low Voltage. I know it’s downstream (passenger side, after the cats). The mechanic told me it has something to do with the wiring harness that connects to the computer, or a wire has been tugged/pinched during installation (made sure I didn’t touch anything other than the oxygen sensor).

is there a special harness i have to buy to plug in both cables or is there a way to work around it….without plugging in both of them the radio does not work.
Responders:
- not sure for your exact car, a friend of mine has a 04 grand prix i think it is, had to buy some special harness to place the stock head unit in the trunk. the computer for the car is ran thru the head unit so it had to be there.. so it got stuffed in the trunk. they made a kid specially for it, i dont have links or anything but if it was that was for his it could be that way for yours, look into it and good luck

1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Torque Strut Installation?

December 19th, 2010 · No Comments

Problem: My mechanic (ex-mechanic) replaced the motor mount on the top side of the motor and then apparently got drunk because he is missing in action. I purchased the Torque Strut because it needs replacing also but I can’t seem to locate it on the motor. Does anyone know which part of the motor the torque strut is on? Is it on the transaxle? If so which side? Is it easy to replace? How would one replace it?

What is “Compression Ratio” and is there a way to change it on a 429 ford engine?

December 16th, 2010 · No Comments

Problem: I have been told that ford changed the compression ratio on the later ford 429 engines, is there a way to change it back to the earlier compression ratio?

Answer: the 429 is a killer block….a domed piston will increase compression ratio and a dished piston will decrease the ratio longer or shorter piston rods will do the same job but the higher the compression ratio the higher the octane rating fuel is required. Normaly in a 429 9.25 to 1 is concidered perfect depending on age ,wear ,and care. How old is the block, how is it driven, what work has been done to it? My mustang is a 69 gt 500 totaly stock but the motor is cherry. It all depends on the maintenence.

second: “Compression Ratio” refers to the ratio between the cylinder volume when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke and the top of its stroke – basically, how much the piston compresses the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder.

Generally, the way to increase compression ratio is to install “taller” pistons, probably not something you’re up to doing yet, if you’re asking this question. But everyone starts somewhere..wishing you good luck if you decide to do it yourself! :)
