ECT Display Driver – Installation for AP2 Module

The ECT Display Driver is a small module with a removable wire harness that mounts behind the driver’s foot well cover. All wiring connections are near the ECM and only 4 wires are needed for basic operation:
• +5v power from the ECM (T-tap)
• Ground – available at ECM mounting bolt
• ECT sensor wire (T-tap at ECM)
• Dash temperature gauge wire (must cut at ECM)

Toyota A-240 “E” Series Electronic Controls

The A-240 “E” series automatic transmission is electronically controlled. Transmission shifting and torque converter lock-up are controlled by an Electronic Controlled Transmission (ECT) Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Control unit is referred to as the ECT ECU.

NOTE: ECT ECU is combined with the engine ECU into one unit. This control unit is referred to as the engine and ECT ECU. See Figs. 1-8. In this article, control unit will be referred to as the ECT ECU on all models. The ECT ECU receives information from various input devices and uses this information to control No. 1 and No. 2 solenoids for transmission shifting and lock-up solenoid for torque converter lock-up.

1 Radio frequency remote control locking unit, ignition key, key for doors, luggage compartment and fuel filler flap.
2 Ignition key, key for doors, luggage compartment and fuel filler cap.

If there is a child (or animal) in the car, never leave it unattended with the key in the ignition. With the key in the ignition it would be possible to operate electrical equipment such as the window risers and there is a risk that the child may be seriously injured (by trapping his or her neck, arm, hand, etc.).

AUTOMATIC LOCKING OF OPENING ELEMENTS WHEN DRIVING
You can decide if you wish to activate the function.
To activate it
With the ignition on, press the locking side (red dot) of door central locking button 1 for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a beep.
To deactivate it
With the ignition on, press the unlocking side (opposite the red dot) of door central locking button 1 for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a beep.
