1994 Toyota Engine Performance Theory & Operation

This article covers basic description and operation of engine performance-related systems and components. Read this article before diagnosing vehicles or systems with which you are not completely familiar.

COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS TOYOTA COMPUTER CONTROL SYSTEM (TCCS)
The TCCS is a computerized emission, ignition and fuel injection control system. The TCCS lowers exhaust emissions while maintaining good fuel economy and driveability. System consists of various sensors, switches and control units. See Figs. 1 and 2. An Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the TCCS based on input signals received from various input devices. The ECM contains preprogrammed data to maintain optimum engine performance under all operating conditions.

Volvo 850 AW50-42LE Auto Transmission Diagnosis

Transaxle is a 4-speed overdrive electronically controlled automatic transaxle. Transaxle consists of lock-up torque converter, oil pump, 3 planetary gear sets, clutch and brake units, accumulator pistons, valve body and 4 electronic valve body solenoids. Valve body with solenoids and Transaxle Control Module (TCM) are used for controlling transaxle operation. Solenoids are controlled by TCM.

Basic Function of BMW Vanos System Ebook

All BMW VANOS systems are operated through electric/hydraulic/mechanical control. Electric Control: The engine control module is responsible for activating a VANOS solenoid valve based on DME program mapping. The activation parameters are influenced by the following input signals:
• Engine speed
• Load (intake air mass)
• Engine temperature
• Camshaft position
• Oil temperature (MS 42.0 only)
