Sometimes referred to as a 2-step or launch controller, the LNC-002 adjustable RPM limiter and timing retard controller can be used to provide consistent launch RPM off the line in drag racing and other standing start racing applications. In turbocharged applications the LNC-002 can also be used to retard the timing in order to build more boost at the line.

Presuming you are familiar with the principles of a modern EFI engine, (if not please review the Introduction, in the Scan Tool manual called “Fundamentals of OBD II EFI Engines”:) it may be surprising to learn that it is possible that these engines can be electronically “tuned.” Just as in the “good old days” when (for example) adding a modified camshaft required new jets for the carburettor, and changing the springs and weights on the distributor advance, this ability still exists, and is necessary, when making changes to an EFI engine.

CIRCUIT TEST A-1: MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL)
With ignition on, PCM energizes main relay. As PCM is supplied ignition power, MIL illuminates. After engine starts, MIL turns off if no malfunction is detected. If a malfunction is detected, MIL will remain illuminated until system is repaired.
1) Turn ignition on. Observe instrument cluster warning lights. If all warning lights illuminate except for MIL, go to next step. If no warning lights illuminate, check for blown fuses, faulty ignition switch, or poor connection at instrument cluster. Repair as necessary.
