2002 Towing Guide

For 2002 there are even more new models, not to mention a multitude of new technologies sure to find favor with RVers. To help simplify things, we have combined some columns, such as conventional/fifth-wheel tow ratings and manual/automatic tow ratings. This not only helps shorten the guide, it makes it easier for you to make direct comparisons between truck/trailer setups with respect to their maximum tow capacities. In addition, you’ll note that we have excluded passenger car tow ratings from this year’s list (since precious few are rated to tow more than 2,000 pounds), as well as some less-popular vehicle models.

This advance edition of the 2008 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide provides trailer towing weights for the listed early-introduction 2008 models. It is available only online for the benefit of customers ordering any of these models prior to the September printing of the complete Guide, which will include more detailed RV and towing information. Obviously, your first concern should be safety. Towing has a significant impact on the dynamics, handling, and braking of your vehicle. Therefore, be certain that your vehicle can meet the demands of the towing application you have in mind. Rent or purchase only the highest-quality towing and safety equipment you can find. Reinforced tow hitches designed especially for certain Nissan vehicles* are available from your Nissan dealer. Hitches for the other Nissan models should be bought from and installed by a professional supplier of towing equipment. Finally, it is important to follow the towing capacity limit set for your specific vehicle, and to ensure that your vehicle is in top mechanical condition; especially the tires, brakes, suspension, and engine cooling system.
