2004–2005 MY Golf, Jetta and New Beetle with TDI Engines Replace EGR Cooler

We are writing to inform you of an emissions recall on some 2004-2005 model year Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and New Beetle TDI engine vehicles. Our records show that you are the owner of one of these vehicles.
What Is The Problem?
The EGR cooler on affected vehicles has the potential to develop an internal leak. If this happens, the MIL light may come on, and the vehicle may exceed Federal and/or California emissions standards.

Volkswagen Manual Gearbox 02T Design and Function

With the new 02T 5/6-speed manual gearbox of the MQ200 series, Volkswagen has succeeded in developing an ultra-light twin-shaft gearbox. The housing is manufactured from magnesium. The gearbox can transmit up to 200 Nm of torque and is used throughout the Group in combination with various engines ranging from the A00 class to the A class. The final drive ratios and the ratios of the individual gears can be matched to the power outputs of the various engines.

2007 Volkswagen City Golf

Volkswagen has re-named the present Golf generation the City Golf. The City is an entry-level car that is more affordable than the Rabbit, the Golf’s replacement. It is available as a four-door hatchback model only, in one version to which options or option packages can be added. A 2L 4-cylinder gasoline engine is the only one offered, and it powers the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
